Why did you create the Faithful Foundations Course?

After 25 years of providing legal services to churches and denominations, I realized there was a gap. So I created this proprietary system to help churches like yours understand exactly where they are in terms of compliance and operations. The Church Attorney Legal Audit® System will help you ensure that your church is utilizing best practices and operating with integrity.

So, what exactly is a legal audit?

A legal audit is an investigation into the structure, governance and business practices of a church from a legal perspective. It entails a thorough review of the legal structure of the church from its formation documents, through its day to day operational practices, and its awareness and response to potential liabilities of the church and its leaders.

The Church Attorney Legal Audit® System is a four-part risk management assessment tool designed to empower churches for long-term operation, IRS audit avoidance, and protection against lawsuits.

How is this online course different from the full legal audit system?

Faithful Foundations: A Legal Compliance Course for Churches can be thought of as the ‘DIY’ version of The Church Attorney Legal Audit® System. Just like accounting audits, a legal audit conducted by an attorney is generally a 5 figure investment. I recognize that not every church has the budget for that, so this course allows you to make use of my tips and tools as you consider your church’s legal standing on your own (at a fraction of the cost).

What will I be doing in the course?

Each week, you will receive a thorough video presentation from Erika Cole, The Church Attorney® walking you through the essential areas of the course. Additionally, you will have for review and completion various worksheets and other resources that will allow you to review your church’s operations and policies through a legal lens.  As a result, you will gain

Can my whole board/staff take this course?

Yes! Every denomination or church that registers for the course will be able to provide course access to up to 30 other members of their organization.

How long will I have access to the course materials?

The course runs for 4 weeks with new lessons becoming available each week during that time. You will have access to all course videos, resources, and activities for a total of 6 months.
